ADHD & Autism-Affirming Counselling
Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for ADHD, Autism & AuDHD
I offer neurodivergent-affirming counselling for ADHD, Autistic, and AuDHD adults and teens (13+), in-person in Port Moody or virtually anywhere in BC.
I'm neurodivergent myself, so this work isn't just clinical knowledge for me — it's lived experience. I know what it's like to spend years wondering why things that seem to come easily to others feel so much harder, and to finally get language for it. My approach starts from the understanding that ADHD and Autism are natural variations in how brains work, not deficits to be fixed.
Who I work with:
Late-diagnosed or self-identifying ADHD/Autistic adults
AuDHD adults navigating both at once
Highly Sensitive People (HSPs)
Teens (13+) figuring out their neurodivergent identity
Anyone tired of masking just to feel "acceptable"
What we might work on together:
Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD)
Masking fatigue and burnout
Meltdowns, shutdowns, and sensory overwhelm
Trauma from years of being misunderstood, dismissed, or over-corrected
Co-occurring anxiety, addiction, or low self-esteem
Relationships, parenting, and work as a neurodivergent adult
My approach includes:
EMDR — adapted with modified pacing and sensory considerations for neurodivergent clients
Rewind Technique — a gentler option for those who find traditional trauma processing overwhelming
Clinical Hypnosis — for anxiety and habit-pattern support
CBT, DBT & Mindfulness — practical tools, offered without pressure to "do them perfectly"
Accommodations available:
Camera-off or audio-only virtual sessions
Written summaries on request
No pressure around eye contact, fidgeting, or "sitting still"
FAQ
Do you diagnose ADHD or Autism? No, I don't provide formal diagnostic assessments, but I support clients through self-identification, the diagnostic process, or life after a diagnosis, and can refer you to assessment providers if needed.
Is this a neurodivergent-affirming practice? Yes — I'm neurodivergent myself, and my whole approach is built around working with your brain, not against it.
Do you work with adults diagnosed later in life? Yes, this is a large part of my practice. Many clients come to me after a late diagnosis, often while processing grief, masking fatigue, or reframing their life through this new understanding.
Can I do EMDR if I'm Autistic or have ADHD? Yes. EMDR can be adapted with slower pacing, more check-ins, and sensory adjustments so it feels manageable rather than overwhelming.
Do you offer virtual sessions for clients outside Port Moody? Yes, I see clients virtually anywhere in British Columbia.
